Wound care and first aid simplified for pharmacists

It’s an area where many pharmacists feel less than confident.Susie Jin understands this feeling because she once shared it. But now, after many years of community practice, she has become an expert in managing wound care in a community pharmacy practice. A certified diabetes educator, her caring for adiposity-related conditions spread into wound care and skin health where she has co-authored Wounds Canada Best Practice Recommendations and currently sits on the Board of Directors at Wounds Canada. We’re pleased to be hosting Susie as a presenter at OTC Spark, our virtual CE education day on Saturday September 21. Her session, “Wound care and first aid simplified” promises to be fascinating and helpful to pharmacists who wish to be better informed about basic wound care and first aid. Here is how she describes her presentation:“The skin is the largest organ in the body, and yet, it is often the most overlooked organ in terms of recognizing its role and function. Skin is an indicator that an individual’s health is changing and that there may be larger concerns. By the end of this session, pharmacists will be better equipped to support skin health in our communities. By recognizing people who are at risk of wounds, pharmacists can have targeted conversations in wound prevention.
