Author Profile

Vicki Wood is a veteran journalist and editor with almost three decades covering the Canadian pharmacy profession. She started as a news writer for Maclean Hunter's Pharmacist News then moved to various positions on iterations of the publication now comprising Pharmacy Practice + Business and the pharmacists' web portal CanadianHealthcareNetwork.ca. Some core memories from her journey with Canadian pharmacists include the fight to keep selling tobacco in pharmacies (!), Days spent at Queens Park covering the pharmacy protests against Ontario's fee cuts and celebrating pharmacy superstars and emerging leaders at the Commitment to Care Awards.

She truly enjoys sharing the stories of Canada's most creative, innovative pharmacy practitioners in the publication's regular Innovators series, and reporting on trending issues discovered at pharmacy professional gatherings. You will find her searching for new ideas and new pharmacists to celebrate at pharmacy events across North America—from Canada's provincial meetings to National conferences and even the American Pharmacists Association or National Community Pharmacists' Association's annual conventions.

Under Vicki's editorship, the publications have earned a number of industry awards including the U.S, FOLIO and Tabbie Awards and Canada's Kenneth R Wilson Awards and many from the National Magazine Awards: B2B. She was also the recipient in 2012 of Rogers' annual CEO Award and 2011 Community Involvement Award for her work as founder of a Toronto food bank, meal and support program for inner-city youth. She currently lives in Picton, Ont. where she spends time outside of work volunteering with the County Food Hub, the Hastings & Prince Edward Learning Foundation and helps out at various local farms and wineries.
