The newly designed clinics boast a number of features aimed at enhancing the patient experience.

Experts from 13 organizations across Canada, including doctors, nurses, researchers, law and humanitarian specialists, along with Jocalyn Clark, a Canadian who is the BMJ’s international editor, wrote the seven articles published late Monday.

The announcement comes as hospitals across the province grapple with a shortage of nurses that has led to dozens of temporary ER closures—the arbitrator who set hospital nurses’ new contract says there are 9,000 registered nurse vacancies.

The Progressive Conservatives hope to recruit 150 family physicians to provide services in all areas of the province with cohorts of 50 doctors allocated for Winnipeg, northern Manitoba and rural communities.

The new additions include procedures to address secondary sex characteristics and additional areas of gender incongruence.

Untwisting an ovary is more complex, but physicians get paid less for this procedure compared to reimbursements for similar procedures on male patients. A recent study of gender-based fee discrepancies points to a 'double discrimination' against female doctors and their female patients.

The university issued a request for proposals to review the issue.
