Belay has launched MedLocker to allow access to life-saving medications in public places.
A white box with a clear door and medicine inside it

Belay has launched MedLocker to allow access to life-saving medications in public places. The locker, which sells for $440 to $485, mounts to the wall and holds epinephrine auto-injectors and naloxone. (The products are not included with the purchase, though epinephrine Is available to purchase separately through Belay at a reduced cost). The drugs are available 24/7, as the case is not locked, but when it’s opened, it takes a video and sets off an alarm, to prevent theft.

MedLocker is for schools, daycares, universities and public venues—64% of food-allergic reactions occur in daycares or preschools.

“I walk around schools all the time here in Toronto, and I find schools just scrambling to come up with their own system, they have like a Ziploc bag nailed to the wall. Especially in a large school, why shouldn’t everyone be able to access something that will save a life?” says Belay co-founder Abby Herzig. She adds that while the current system at most schools is for children to carry their own epinephrine, stocking undesignated epinephrine is allowed.

MedLocker purchases also include five accredited training sessions on food allergies, opioid overdose or both.
