Being a pharmacist gives me the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives and to work alongside healthcare leaders and partners to continually improve the way we deliver patient care.

I’m driven by the great work of my peers in the profession and innovators in the healthcare space. Healthcare is just beginning its digital transformation, accelerated by the COVID pandemic; I’m excited every day to see change happening and learn from it.

One of the things I love about this 2022 series is the reassurance that the future of pharmacy is indeed in good hands. Throughout the series, we highlight every week an amazing young leader in pharmacy from across Canada and around the world. Each leader has an inspiring message. Below are my preferred quotes that I liked from each of their interviews.

Young leaders are innovative – and that's the way we pave the way for change. Understanding that the pharmacy profession and landscape is changing more than ever, young leaders are identifying new avenues and solutions to continue providing value to patients and the healthcare system.

The fact that our profession is always evolving is very motivating. A consistent driving force, and the reason for my participation in various professional committees, has been to actively contribute to the transformation of the profession and “champion” the changes to our practice.

The uptake of telemedicine and virtual care has increased significantly in the past year. Implementing telemedicine in pharmacy can improve patient outcomes and enhance pharmacy practice in significant ways.

I'm the first point of contact for most patients who have questions or concerns about their health. It provides me with an opportunity to collaborate with other healthcare professionals to enhance the quality of life of people in my community.

I think young leaders have a genuine curiosity to understand why things are done in a certain way and have a strong desire to make changes if it doesn’t make sense – and we are not shy about sharing our thoughts.
