Self-care has always been a necessity and not a choice. In the past when I failed to meet that necessity for myself, the consequences manifested as extreme stress, doubt, burnout, and an overwhelming desire to quit.

Like most busy physicians, I don’t often take care of myself the way I should. For many years I have “tolerated” an issue that really needed to be managed appropriately.

I almost didn't make it to class that night . . . He threw punches right at my face. I kept my hands up to protect myself, but it took all my strength to stop the blows. I focused every ounce of my attention on blocking his fists as they came barrelling towards me. He hit hard: He was the same height as me, but at least 50 pounds heavier—all muscle.

How do you manage the unvaccinated people in your life? In my life, I have two distinctly different “categories” of unvaccinated people; the unable and then unwilling. I can’t decide which group frustrates me more.
