Doctors share their viewpoints in a photo exhibit at the Canadian Conference on Physician Health

Last year, I was approached by a nurse in our clinic to take part in a new project called “Alberta Screening and Prevention.” It’s the brainchild of the Toward Optimized Practice group, and the goal as I understand it is to improve on the fact that only about one-third of adults in this province receive the recommended care for screening and prevention. I was game, so I consented.

It has been almost 20 years since I first had one of my articles published in the Medical Post. I still have a copy of “The fascinating story of ether drinking.” It told the intriguing history of the popularity of ether drinking across Europe, particularly during the late 19th century when thousands of people, especially in Ireland, became known as “etheromanics.”
