Dr. Jeffrey Rice Holmes Matheson has a history of discipline with the CPSO, including a four-month suspension for his 'cavalier and reckless approach to opioid prescribing' in a case that was brought to light by four pharmacists.
Dr. Max Klein has also been ordered by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta to pay about $30,000, the full cost of investigation and hearings.
'You better learn jiu jitsu and hand-to-hand combat if you ever take my opioids away,' Dr. David Bittleman's patient wrote him. 'You better learn how to defend yourself!'
