Over 10% of Canadians live with pain in their mouth. People visit emergency rooms for care that could be better delivered in a dental office. Canadians lose teeth that could have been saved, which makes it hard to eat nutritiously and can make it more difficult to find work.
In a study published in the journal Science, researchers found that Epstein Barr virus (EBV)—the virus that causes mononucleosis—is also an environmental trigger for MS. EBV is common, with more than 95% of people being infected during their lifetime.
