Standing in her kitchen one chilly February morning three years ago, Dr. Bobbi French found herself at a crossroads. Dr. French, an adolescent psychiatrist, was the chief of inpatient services at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax. She had just wound up an intense project involving a complete overhaul of a troubled unit. The work had been part of a year-long contract, and she now had to decide whether to sign on for another year.“I was obviously having some kind of mid-life mayhem, and I think it was just the fact that I wasn’t getting any younger.
