While still a relatively new concept in Canada, interprofessional health care is gaining momentum among both legislators and frontline healthcare professionals. That joint push is a positive sign, considering the considerable investments required in research, training and infrastructure in order to shift the delivery of health care to interprofessional practice.

During one of his Wednesday rounds, Dr. Keith Ogle, chair of academic family medicine at the University of Saskatchewan and a member of West Winds Primary Health Centre in Saskatoon, was asked a question about drug interactions. Before answering, he signalled the pharmacist educator down the hall to join the group and answer the question.
