IPG pharmacists: Two weeks left to submit your essays!

Pharmacy Practice + Business is pleased to announce the 2026 Write to Win essay contest for internationally educated, Canadian licensed pharmacists.Pharmacists who come to work in Canada from other countries are an important segment of the pharmacy workforce. In fact, according to the Canadian Institute for Health Information, Internationally trained pharmacists accounted for 35% of licensed pharmacists in 2024. We believe that international pharmacy graduates (IPG) working in Canada are an essential and important aspect of the pharmacy profession. You bring fresh perspectives and experiences to this country's healthcare landscape. We also feel it's important to share your stories with the broader pharmacy audienceTo help amplify your voices, we're encouraging IPG pharmacists to record your story and share it with pharmacists across Canada. We'll publish a selection of your stories and, as an additional incentive, our editorial team will select one submission to win a grand prize of a $500 VISA gift card. Two runners up will receive $250 gift cards.Do you feel you're just too busy to be creative? We get it. But this doesn't have to be onerous. All it takes is a couple of hours to sit down at the keyboard (or with your text recording app) and start. You might even find it therapeutic. Not sure you have a story to tell? Here are some potential ideas to start you thinking (But this should be your story about what you feel is important—the sky's the limit):Tell us why you became a pharmacist in your home country and why you came to CanadaWhat is your goal for your future career in pharmacy and why is it important to you?Tell us about someone who mentored you and why they're specialDo you have a story about working in a pharmacy and making an impact on a patient's life?How does your experience of pharmacy in Canada differ so far from what you expected?What was the funniest thing that ever happened to you (at school, at work or in life)?What would your dream pharmacy practice look like?Is there something about pharmacy practice in your country of origin that you wish was possible in Canada?Essays/stories can be up to 1,000 words. Submit your story as a Word or Google doc. Please include a photo of yourself along with a short bio. You must include where you graduated and where you are currently employed, If you have a photo to go along with your story, that's welcome as well. Multiple entries are allowed.All submissions should be sent to Vicki Wood at vwood@ensembleiq.com.CONTEST RULES:Contest closes April 25, 2026. Open to Canadian residents who have reached the age of majority in their province / territory. Offer is available to story contest entrants only and cannot be transferred. The classification of who is a story contest entrant will solely be down to the discretion of EnsembleIQ.Editors will publish a selection of entered stories on CanadianHealthcareNetwork.ca. Submission of a story signifies permission for its publication.The Grand prize is a (1) $500 VISA gift card (value of $500 in Canadian dollars). There are also 2 secondary prizes of Visa gift cards worth $250 each (in Canadian dollars). No cash alternative available. Winners will be selected by the editorial team of Pharmacy Practice + Business once the entry deadline has passed.
