The University Health Network in Toronto has opened a 24-hour stand-alone clinic which has resulted in dramatic improvements in ambulance offload times and freed-up beds at the hospital's emergency department.
But not all pharmacists will be able to offer the service immediately, with some requiring additional time to prepare and ramp up the necessary infrastructure.
Premier Danielle Smith announced the province-wide program today to free up ambulances and paramedics so they can respond to emergency calls more quickly.
