The announcement on changes to the safer supply program follows a leak of documents in February that said about 60 pharmacies were involved in the illegal diversion of drugs from the safe supply program.
Pharmacists have added immense value to primary care services and access, while bearing the administrative and operational burden of health and safety regulatory standards and navigating unfair and complex drug coverage standards for patients. There is minimal, reduced, or no funding supporting these expanded responsibilities.
For pharmacists, using structured breathing protocols has been shown to enhance focus during medication reconciliation, improve patience during difficult patient interactions, and reduce end-of-shift exhaustion.
