Dalhousie medical school launches opioid prescribing courses
HALIFAX—The Dalhousie Medical School has launched two new training initiatives to help both new and established physicians more effectively and safely prescribe opioids. Starting in July, residents in all 55 postgraduate programs must complete an online program that consists of three increasingly focused levels. A continuing professional development course is also being developed for practising physicians. -

HALIFAX – Fido may offer individuals addicted to narcotics more than a comforting paw. Our four-legged friends may be an unwitting source of restricted drugs including fentanyl and hydromorphone. Now the Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association (NSMVA) is pushing to close a loophole that currently excludes veterinary medicine from the provincial drug monitoring program.
