Inspiring best practice champion program breeds many great ideas
Recently, I participated in a new project that was happening across our hospital for registered nurses. “Best Practice Champion” was a first-of-its-kind initiative by our hospital, funded by HealthForceOntario, and I am very proud to have been a part of it. - 11/27/2011

As September rolled around, I noticed new nurses starting on our unit. Only then did I realize I am no longer the new graduate nurse on the unit. How time flies! Non-violent crisis intervention and my first patient encounter
At my hospital, the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention program is mandatory for registered nurses, security personnel and anyone who has to work closely with patients and their family members. About six weeks after the course was completed, I was taking care of an elderly man suffering from dementia. The first day of caring for this patient was productive; he was co-operative and calm.
