Obesity: a growing problem in Canada
About 25% of Canadian adults and 8.6% of children and youth (ages 6 to 17) are obese, according to a joint report issued by the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Canadian Institute for Health Information. From 1981 to 2007/09, obesity rates approximately doubled among male and female adults and youth. In addition, fitness levels are declining.
