Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common liver disease in Canada. It affects one in four Canadians, and is predicted to become a public health epidemic over the next ten years. Yet the results of a survey conducted by the Canadian NASH Network (CanNASH), published in the Canadian Liver Journal, found that non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and its most severe form, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), are still unrecognized by a large proportion of doctors and nurses.
