Around the world, former pharmacies are being transformed into other businesses, often retaining much of their original architecture—and in this case, even their signage. Keidel Pharmacy opened in 1906 in Fredericksburg, Texas, but now serves as one of the area’s hottest new coffee shops serving up tasty pastries instead of prescriptions. The Pharmacy is part of the area’s highly anticipated and high-end Albert Hotel set to open early 2025. The hotel's name pays tribute to the city’s main architect, historical preservationist and general 'man about town' Albert Keidel, whose father Victor was a doctor and uncle Kurt the resident pharmacist.
This is the first in our Double Duty Pharmacy series, showcasing converted pharmacies from around the globe. If you come across a transformed pharmacy in your travels, please send a picture and short description to Vicki Wood.
