Kylie Taggart is a freelance science writer, working primarily with the Medical Post, where she was a staff writer before moving to Ottawa.

Over the more than 24 years with the Medical Post, Kylie has won and been nominated for numerous awards. She writes about clinical news, healthcare policy and prepares many of the weekly clinical quizzes featured in Doctor Daily. She also writes for pharmacists and pharmacy staff on the Canadian Healthcare Network. Kylie earned a degree in biology from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont., a Master’s degree in physiology at Western University in London, Ont. and a diploma in print journalism from Algonquin College in Ottawa. Her intersections with clinical care have come from volunteering in emergency and rehabilitation departments, attending clinical epilepsy rounds as a student and being a patient and family member. Her education also includes the many medical conferences she’s covered for the Medical Post over the years, exploring topics such as cardiology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, immunization and psychiatry. The real learning, of course, has come from being a mother of three people with highly developed clinical thinking skills who keep her pondering life’s many mysteries.
